Waldorf Astoria, a brand owned by Hilton, will enter Spain’s real estate market in 2029 with an investment of €220 million. The funds will be used to transform Marbella Golf into the luxury Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort, which was presented in New York.
Investment and project positioning
Higuerón Marbella Golf Resort aims to become a “global benchmark” for “ultra-luxury” vacations. The first Waldorf Astoria hotel in Spain is expected to further strengthen Marbella’s status as a privileged destination for high-end tourism.
Resort concept and infrastructure
The new resort, located five kilometers from Marbella’s city center and 30 minutes from Málaga Airport, will feature a total of 120 rooms and suites, as well as 120 “branded residences”.
Among the announced facilities, special attention is drawn to the brand’s “peacock alley”, a “lobby bar”, and a new “country” club, which will include a 750 m² spa, as well as indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gym, and “wellness” areas.
Architecture and design
As for the hotel’s design, it will be revealed following a competition in which three Pritzker Prize-winning architects will take part. The essence of the original project will be preserved, while adapting it to modern requirements for efficiency and sustainability.
