Alicante is one of the provinces with the highest number of home purchases by foreigners. According to the Property Registrars’ Yearbook for 2023, 44% of home sales here were made by residents of other countries, who bought a total of 12,203 properties.
The main buyers of homes in Alicante were the British, who accounted for 12% of sales (around 2,500 properties). They stand out for their preference for large properties, located mainly near the coast and in the north of the province. Americans also look for spacious homes: half of their purchases were properties of 100 m² or more.
Among buyers of new-build homes, the Belgians, the Dutch and the Poles lead. The Poles have already increased their presence in a number of areas and are becoming some of the main clients. They see La Mata as the most desirable place to buy property, in particular the Los Europeos and Gaspar Perelló areas, where their share of demand exceeds 60%.
The Dutch are interested in Calpe (especially the exclusive residential area of Maryvilla), El Campello, Moraira and Guardamar del Segura. Swedish buyers, for their part, are most interested in property in Alicante, Orihuela and Torrevieja, where their favourite areas are Los Frutales, Playa del Cura and Cabo Cervera.
