With the arrival of the stifling heat, many residents of Spain’s southern and eastern regions head north, which is gradually becoming an ever more popular destination, both with Spaniards and with foreigners. More and more people also want to buy a home in Spain close to the beach, and Asturias stands out in this respect. One of the reasons is the launch of new high-speed trains linking it with other regions of the country.
The specialist property portal Fotocasa names Lastres beach, in the small Asturian town of the same name, as the most sought-after place in Spain to buy a home on the coast. In 2010 the town received the “Exemplary Town of Asturias” award, and it became even better known and more popular thanks to the TV series “Doctor Mateo”.
Another Asturian town made the top ten “beach” locations among home buyers: Villaviciosa, with Playa España. The full list (by province) is as follows:
