According to a study by the Spanish portal Idealista, buying a home with a pool in Alicante costs 57% more than buying one without. In Castellón and Valencia the price is higher by 51% and 40% respectively, and across Spain as a whole by 54% on average.
Among Spain’s provincial capitals, the biggest price difference is found in Teruel (83%), Huesca (77%), Santa Cruz de Tenerife and Tarragona (74% in both cases), Lleida (70%) and Barcelona (68%).
Almost 24% of the homes listed for sale in the city of Alicante have a pool, far more than in Castellón (5.3%) and Valencia (5.9%), and the highest share in the whole country (the average is 19.1%). Apart from Alicante, this feature is most often found in homes in Ávila (18.2%), Ciudad Real (17.3%), Palma (16%), Logroño (15.6%) and Madrid (14.8%), while in Vitoria, Ourense, Bilbao, Pontevedra, Lugo, Cádiz and Palencia it is a real rarity: under 1% in every case.
