Marbella City Council has announced that it is continuing work on the formalisation of 25 social housing properties in the Arroyo Palomera area, located on the so-called Golden Mile, and plans to hold the lottery for them by the end of 2026.
The deadline for registration in the applicants’ register, which grants the right to participate in the lottery for these apartments, expires on October 1. Some of the properties will be intended for young people, while others will be offered for rent at a restricted price. One apartment will also be reserved for people with reduced mobility and another for people with other types of disabilities.
The «Arroyo Palomera» residential complex will feature landscaped areas, a swimming pool, garages and storage rooms and will consist of three-bedroom apartments ranging from 74 to 86 square metres, located in a three-storey building. As for the procedure, once the registration period has ended, a preliminary list will be published, followed by a final list before the public lottery is held.
There are currently 3,899 people registered in the Applicants’ Register, of whom 2,345 are young people under the age of 35. In addition, 34 are people with reduced mobility and 168 have other forms of disability. To facilitate access to the project, each recipient of social housing will receive municipal assistance of 10,000 euros, supplemented by a further 6,000 euros provided by the developer.
At present, Marbella already has 500 residential properties either completed or under construction. The next goal announced by the city authorities is to launch the construction of a further 700 properties and to increase this number in the foreseeable future.
