Cabo Roig (in Valencian – Cap Roig) is one of the most expensive and, at the same time, the most picturesque areas of the beachside Orihuela Costa. It is located about 10 km south of the center of Torrevieja and 52 km from Elche-Alicante International Airport.
Being one of the best areas of the southern part of the Costa Blanca, Cabo Roig is very popular among foreign tourists and investors. This is due, firstly, to its buildings, and secondly, to its geographical location.
Cabo Roig: Development and Location
Quiet and peaceful, Cabo Roig is immersed in the greenery of pine trees and bougainvillea flowers. It is built up mainly with cottages and villas: residential complexes with apartments, bungalows and townhouses can be counted on fingers.
Demand for tourist rentals here always exceeds supply, and houses for sale find new owners very quickly. There are no free land plots in the Cabo Roig area, so construction is carried out pointwise, on the site of old houses, that are not to be renovated, but only demolished.
As for the geographical position, Cabo Roig is favorably distinguished from the neighboring areas of Orihuela Costa. Cabo Roig is spread over a high rocky cape, which offers panoramic views of the coast and the Mediterranean Sea. Not only houses located on the first line can boast of such views, but also those, which are built further from the shore.
Cabo Roig is bordered to the north by the La Zenia region, and to the south – by the Campoamor area. Both of them are not inferior to Cabo Roig in popularity, but they are less expensive and prestigious.
Cabo Roig is also convenient in terms of infrastructure. All the necessary services for life are on hand: bars and restaurants, pharmacies and banks, shops and supermarkets. It is just a five-minute drive, there is the largest shopping and entertainment center of the coast – CC Zenia Boulevard, one can drive to Torrevieja and its commercial centers in ten minutes.
Orihuela Costa has a good road network. To quickly get to other cities along the coast, one can use the N-332 or the AP-7 highway. There are also many secondary roads connecting all the cities, towns and urbanizations of southern part of Alicante province.
Attractions and Beaches of Cabo Roig
The architectural landmark of the Cabo Roig area is a high stone tower – Torre de Cabo Roig, which served as a watch fortification from the 16th century, and if not protected, then at least allowed locals to be early warned about the raids of Berber pirates.
In 1949, the tower was recognized as an architectural monument. Today, near the tower, a hiking trail originates, stretching along the cliff to the Cala Capitan bay, which is located north of Cabo Roig. The route is easy and at the same time incredibly beautiful: the views of Punta Prima, Torrevieja, the beaches of Campoamor and La Manga are offered from different sides.
Other attractions include a yacht marina with more than 200 berths, located on the south side of the cape, a fine Mediterranean restaurant Bahía de Cabo Roig and a small pretty park near the beach of Cala Capitan . The marina has a boat and speedboat rental service, as well as a water sports school.
In addition to Cala Capitan beach, there are two more beaches in Cabo Roig: La Caleta and Playa de Cabo Roig. Both are located south of the marina on the border with the neighboring area of Dehesa de Campoamor. The sandy beach of Cabo Roig (480 m) is the most popular: in the high season, there are lifeguards at the beach; there is an emergency point, foot-washing facilities, and most importantly, a convenient gently-sloping entry into the sea, which is the best suited for children and elderly persons.
Climate in Cabo Roig
In Cabo Roig, there is a pronounced Mediterranean climate with hot summers, moderately cool winters and little rainfall. In winter, the temperature rarely drops below +15ºС; in summer, it is kept in the range of +25-+35ºС; and it exceeds to +40ºС on especially hot days of July and August.
Cabo Roig is a real paradise for sea and beach lovers. One can sunbathe here almost all year round. Even in winter, with a southerly wind and sunny weather, the air warms up so much that one can comfortably lie down on a sunbed and take sunbaths. The water temperature is well-suited for swimming from June to October. However, in spring and late autumn, there are also many tempered daredevils, who are ready to maximize the bathing season.
Salt lakes located in the vicinity of Torrevieja and La Mata create a special microclimate in this coastal zone. People suffering from asthma or hypertension begin to feel much better here.
Property in Cabo Roig
In July 2022, the average price per square meter of housing in Cabo Roig was 3,668 €. There are always apartments and bungalows for sale, but most of the properties are still presented by cottages and villas.

- Apartments with 3 bedrooms: from 135,000 €;
- Townhouses, adjacent cottages: from 164,000 €;
- Detached cottages: from 255 000 €;

As we noted above, Cabo Roig is not a cheap area: housing prices here are above the average throughout the province of Alicante. High prices are offset by the convenience of location, silence, tranquility and excellent infrastructure.
