By the end of 2021, residential property sales in the province of Alicante and across the Valencian Community had clearly exceeded the “pre-pandemic” levels of 2019. This applies both to the number of completed sales and to total turnover.
According to the Ministry of Housing (formerly the Ministry of Development), 46,090 sales were completed in the province of Alicante (almost a third of them in the last quarter, and 27% by foreign investors), 8.6% more than in 2019. In the province of Valencia these figures were 40,674 and 23%, and in the province of Castellón 12,303 and 32.9% respectively.
In turn, the total amount received from the sale of houses and apartments in these areas reached €6.59 billion, €4.836 billion and €1.128 billion, on average 30% more than two years earlier.
The average price of a residential property sold on the Costa Blanca in 2021 exceeded €143,000 (before the Covid-19 pandemic it was €122,500), and in 90% of cases buyers chose resale property.
