According to the latest official data, in the first three quarters of 2021 the most homes in the province of Alicante were sold in its capital of the same name, and in Torrevieja, Elche and Orihuela. The figures have either already exceeded those recorded before the Covid-19 pandemic or come very close to them.
In the city of Alicante, 4,882 sales had been completed by the beginning of October, 15% of the total (32,407). In the same period last year the local property market recorded 3,240 such transactions, and in 2019, 4,707. Torrevieja accounts for 10% of all sales in the province (3,352) and Elche for 7.7% (2,499). Besides these towns, the top ten by number of sales included Orihuela, Dénia, Santa Pola, Benidorm, Pilar de la Horadada, Alcoy and Guardamar del Segura, and in each of them sales peaked at a different time.
The total value of home sales in the province of Alicante from January to September was €4.59 million, 18.2% more than in the same period of 2019 and 34.7% more than last year. This can be seen as further evidence of the recovery of the property market at provincial level, which all forecasts expect to continue in 2022.
