Alicante: structure and average size of new builds
In the first seven months of the year, 947 permits were issued for new single-family homes, which is very close to the 2024 figure (938), while for multi-family buildings growth reached 46.47% (5,213 versus 3,559). The figures for July alone were 127 and 1,237 respectively (a year earlier – 246 and 262).
The statistics also show that in July the average floor area was 202 sq m for single-family homes and 82 sq m for multi-family homes.
Non-residential sector in the province
Meanwhile, in the non-residential segment a total of 76 buildings were constructed in the first seven months (87 in 2024). Of these:
- 20 buildings – for commercial services and warehousing;
- 20 – for tourism, leisure and sports;
- 2 – for agriculture and livestock;
- 7 – for industrial use;
- 1 – for offices;
- 9 – for transport services;
- 17 – for other types of services.
The total floor area of non-residential buildings amounted to 70,246 sq m, and in the residential segment – 185,791 sq m.
Spain: the nationwide picture
According to the Ministry of Transport, by July 2025 the number of permits for new housing in Spain reached 84,061. This is 10.9% more than in the same period last year, when 75,814 permits were recorded.
In July alone, permits rose to 13,989, up 11.3% compared with the same month in 2024. In June, for which data were also updated, the figure was 13,280, an increase of 27.2% year-on-year.
In the first seven months of 2025, 16,149 permits were issued for new single-family homes, 3% more than a year earlier. At the same time, permits for multi-family buildings increased to 67,876 (+13.1%). In addition, 36 permits were registered for new buildings of other types – 70.2% fewer than in the same period of 2024.
As for the corresponding data for July 2025, the figures were 2,690 (–2.8%) for single-family homes, 11,287 (+15.5%) for multi-family homes and 12 (–61.3%) for other types of residential buildings.
Official statistics also indicate that in July the average floor area of residential properties was 191 sq m for single-family homes and 105.8 sq m for multi-family homes.
