According to the Official College of Technical Architecture of Alicante, 8,783 homes were built in the province in 2023. This is the highest figure since 2007 and 17% above the previous peak (7,532), recorded five years earlier. Compared with 2022, the increase is 52%.
Most towns in the province saw more activity in the construction sector, both in the number of building permits issued and in the number of homes built. The total floor area of housing and the amount spent on building it rose accordingly.
The largest number of new homes in 2023 appeared in the Vega Baja area, which accounted for 43.6% of the total. It is followed by the Marinas (26.5%) and Alicante (20.1%).
